What Customers Need on a Contact Page Before They Drive to Your Business

November 06, 2026•3 min read

A contact page should help a customer arrive at the right place under the right conditions. A map pin and phone number may not explain which entrance to use, whether parking is available, or whether visits require an appointment. Those details can determine whether an inquiry becomes a successful visit.

Walk the route as a first-time visitor

Start from the directions link on the public website. Check the destination, arrival point, entrance, signage, and any appointment requirement. Ask front-desk or customer-facing staff which arrival questions recur. Do not publish access features or parking promises based only on a stock photo or an old listing.

Google’s profile-editing guidance supports keeping customer-facing address, hours, and contact information accurate. Compare your website with the actual public profile so customers do not receive conflicting directions.

Build an arrival information block

  • Question: Where do I go?; Useful answer if verified: The customer entrance and a recognizable landmark.

  • Question: Can I arrive without booking?; Useful answer if verified: Whether an appointment or prior confirmation is required.

  • Question: Where can I leave a vehicle?; Useful answer if verified: Actual parking arrangements and relevant limits.

  • Question: What if I cannot find the entrance?; Useful answer if verified: A working contact option during the stated hours.

  • Question: What access information matters?; Useful answer if verified: Verified details, with a contact route for unanswered needs.

Write a concise paragraph before adding another interactive map. For illustration: “Customer appointments use the side entrance facing the courtyard. Please follow your confirmed appointment instructions.” Only publish directions your team has checked.

Use photos to clarify rather than decorate

A current entrance photo can be more useful than a generic office interior. Give meaningful images appropriate text alternatives, following W3C’s image guidance, and label the photo’s purpose. Review images when signage, entrances, or shared-site arrangements change.

Avoid publishing a reassuring accessibility statement without knowing what it means in practice. Describe verified features accurately and provide a way to discuss needs the page cannot answer. Do not require a visitor to disclose sensitive information through a general public comment or review.

Check visits against operating hours

Separate office hours from collection, showroom, or service hours when they differ. Update holiday exceptions and temporary entrance changes in the places customers will see before traveling. A visible note should explain the current arrangement without making the whole business look permanently closed.

Test telephone and directions links on a phone. The visible number may be correct while the clickable link uses an old destination. Keep at least one clear route to assistance if the embedded map does not load.

Maintain ownership of the facts

Assign someone at the location to approve arrival details. A central marketing team or managed agent can prepare the page, but the people operating the premises should verify the information. Save the date of that review internally.

After the update, ask staff whether arrival-related confusion continues. Treat a report of the wrong entrance or an unnecessary trip as a content-maintenance signal. A clearer contact page is a practical customer service improvement, with any effect on inquiries measured separately.
