How to Write Website Answers That Work for Google and AI Search
Choose a question whose answer could change a purchase. Open your current page and ask a colleague to find the answer without using the menu. If the relevant facts are scattered across a PDF, a sales deck and a paragraph about your company history, the first job is to put the answer in one accessible place.
Write the answer a knowledgeable employee would give
Start with a direct sentence and then explain the conditions. For a company renting event equipment, the question might be “Can we put the tent on pavement?” The answer depends on the approved anchoring method and the site assessment. Name those conditions, what the customer needs to supply and who makes the final determination. Have the responsible specialist approve the wording.
Add context that distinguishes your business. A photo from your own setup, a list of details needed for a quote, or a comparison of two approved options can be more informative than a long introduction. If facts vary by location or model, make that visible in the answer. Give readers a route to the full service description and a way to ask about an unusual situation.
Check what your page actually promises
Google says its usual search practices also apply to its AI search features. A special file or a separate rewrite for AI is not required for those features. Whether a specific page appears in an answer is up to the search system.
Give the page to a salesperson who did not help write it. Ask them to answer the original question using only the public text. If they still need to add caveats from memory, publish those caveats. That is a concrete improvement you can verify even before search traffic arrives.
