What to Ask a Managed AI Marketing Provider Before You Sign

November 05, 2026•2 min read

Ask the provider to walk through one job your business needs done. For example, you want to launch a new service in a second region. What would their team need from you? What would an agent prepare? Who would check the service terms? What would you be able to see after the work goes live? Their answers reveal more than a list of tools.

Ask to see the boundary of the work

Request a plain language scope that names the deliverables, the person who can approve changes and the owner of each account. If advertising is involved, separate media spend from management charges. If content is involved, find out who verifies facts and what happens when the business changes a service or policy.

A provider may be able to draft and update a service page while your business retains final say on availability and pricing. That arrangement can work well when the review route is clear. Ask how you can report a mistake, how it will be corrected and who checks the public result afterward.

Ask for an example of the reporting

Give each provider the same hypothetical situation. Your traffic increased, but sales received fewer suitable inquiries. What would they inspect first? Look for a discussion of traffic sources, page expectations, form data and sales disposition. A report that ends with more clicks leaves the owner to diagnose the actual problem.

Before agreeing, confirm what your team keeps if the engagement ends, including account access, published material and any documentation you need to maintain it. Bring your current website, a sample offer and one sales bottleneck to the consultation. A strong proposal will identify which jobs the managed team can own and which decisions need to stay with people inside your business.

Put this into practice

Bring your current campaign, website, or lead follow up process. We can help you choose which part of the work to hand off first.
