How to Calculate Whether a Landing Page Produces Better Leads

November 05, 2026•2 min read

An increase in form submissions feels like progress until sales explains that half of the new inquiries are outside the market. Write down the decision the landing page is meant to support. For a high value service, that may be a conversation with a buyer who fits the scope and has a real project.

Use the same denominator on both pages

Count eligible visits, unique inquiries, qualified inquiries and completed meetings for the same group. Define “qualified” with sales before you review outcomes. Give both groups enough time to progress. A page launched on Friday should not be compared with a group that has already had a month of follow up.

In an illustrative comparison, Page A receives 500 visits and 30 forms, of which six qualify. Page B receives 500 visits and 20 forms, of which eight qualify. A converts six percent of visits to forms and B converts four percent. But qualified inquiries per visit are 1.2 percent and 1.6 percent respectively. The business may prefer B if the visitors were comparable and the result holds up over time.

Check what else changed

Different ad targeting, operating hours or sales coverage can influence results. If a branch stopped accepting work during one period, mark it before interpreting the numbers. Low volume can make one good project look like a trend. Keep the underlying counts beside percentages and inspect a sample of the inquiries.

Agree on one action from the review. If qualification improved but bookings fell, investigate the handoff from form to calendar. If a page attracts many people outside the area, clarify location before requesting details. A useful landing page report connects the change on the website to the next place a customer can move forward.
