Which Marketing Work Should You Hand to an AI Team First?

November 05, 2026•2 min read

A good first assignment has a recognizable finish line. “Get us more business” could mean a dozen different things. “Help visitors who request a commercial cleaning quote reach the right estimator” gives your team a place to start looking and a way to tell whether the work helped.

Start with the last customer you wanted to win

Walk backward from a real inquiry. How did the customer find you? Which page did they read? What did they ask? Where did they wait? An owner can usually reconstruct one journey with a salesperson. A larger team can pull a handful from each branch. Include a lost inquiry alongside a successful one. The difference often points to the right first assignment.

Write down the missing work as a verb and an object. “Explain the installation process,” “update the comparison page,” and “route the estimate request” are assignments. “Do digital marketing” still needs a definition.

Give the agent something it can check

For each candidate, name the source information, the reviewer and the evidence of completion. An outdated installation page has a service lead who can verify the facts and a public page everyone can inspect. A campaign designed around an unapproved offer has neither. Take the assignment with an owner and trustworthy material first.

For the cleaning business, the first assignment might be rewriting its quote page to ask about building use and service area. An estimator approves the questions. After launch, the team compares how many requests reach the correct estimator without a follow up call. If routing improves but suitable inquiries stay scarce, attracting more prospects becomes the next assignment.

Bring that one journey to a consultation. It makes the discussion about the work your business needs and gives both sides a way to define success before choosing agents.
