Catering Leads Below Your Minimum Order? Split Drop Off From Full Service

November 05, 2026•2 min read

An office manager planning lunch for twelve and a wedding planner looking for a staffed dinner have very different ideas of what “catering” includes. If both click the same ad and receive a long event proposal questionnaire, you lose easy orders and create avoidable work for your sales team.

Put the buying decision before the menu

Show two short descriptions where visitors arrive. For delivery, explain what comes with the food, whether setup is included, the area served, the minimum order and your actual order cutoff. For staffed events, describe the service styles your kitchen can support, when staffing or rentals are quoted separately, and how far in advance a planner should ask.

An office example might specify that a drop-off lunch includes labeled trays and delivery but requires the client to arrange serving staff. An event example can describe the coordinator’s first call and the details needed for a proposal. Keep amounts and deadlines under the control of someone who knows kitchen and delivery capacity.

Follow the decision through to paid orders

Ask for the date, approximate guest count and location, then show questions appropriate to the service. An office ordering lunch should not have to answer questions about a wedding venue. An event planner needs a way to communicate flexible dates or requirements before committing to a menu.

Review inquiries lost below minimum by service and compare with paid orders. If delivery handles smaller groups profitably, send those inquiries its way. If both options have a minimum, publish that information plainly. Changing your page is cheaper than producing proposals your kitchen cannot accept.
